Passport - general

What kind of photograph do I send?

We require two photographs of you, taken on your own, within the last six months. It must be in colour, taken against a light background, so that your features are clearly distinguishable. It should be a close-up of your head and shoulders so that your face covers 70 to 80% of the photograph. The size should be 45 x 35mm.

The photographs must be in sharp focus and clear, with a strong definition between the face and background.

There must not be any shadows, reflection on spectacles, sunglasses or hair across your eyes. The face must be looking directly at the camera with eyes open, a neutral expression and mouth closed. Your face should be uncovered with no hats or head covering.

Please see the passport photo standards for more details and some examples of those photographs which are/are not acceptable. If you choose to get your photos taken by a photographer, we advise you to take our Guidance for professional commercial photographers in Spanish or Portuguese.
